Mine would be Skies of Arcadia. It’s not actually a bad game, but it’s full of bad elements: a clichéd-as-heck plot, combat that started somewhat hard and got easier, item descriptions that make no sense (“slashing through reality” was weaker than the next store-bought sword), magic system that barely matters, etc. What keeps me coming back is the sheer FEEL of the game. Sailing through the skies, finding Discoveries, going above and below clouds…it’s the best air pirate setting I’ve ever seen, and the game nailed how that felt. And that makes it all okay.
