Critical Let’s Play: State of Decay YOSE Lifeline

This is the first in a series of Critical Let’s Plays on State of Decay Year One Survival Edition we’ll be featuring here at NYMG, exploring Lifeline, the main story mode, and Breakdown (though we may not do the full stories for all modes). There’s a lot to unpack in this game from a critical perspective, and the ease of uploading from the Xbox One means I’ll be taking my explorations of Undead Labs’ zombie game even further.

This first video covers several missions and the first siege in Lifeline, the original game’s second DLC that was released just last year. Lifeline takes place on a different map from the game’s other modes, in the city of Danforth, and positions the player in a military unit faces with trying to salvage in a fallen city while rescuing both civilians and key personnel who may be able to help with the outbreak. Lifeline is different from the other modes in a lot of ways, as I discuss in the video.

Sadly I have to say the video quality is not the best. I think that will be improved in my forthcoming Breakdown and main story videos, but I’m jumping through hoops to pass videos through two or three machines in order to record and process footage. Know that the game is far more beautiful in its updated version than it appears here.
