The Women of Mortal Kombat

As I played the new Mortal Komat, I was struck by how similar this game seemed to the ones I had always played: similar characters, similar scenes, and similar moves.

I’d like to imagine that video game companies are under pressure to develop their characters to move away from the disgruntled, white, male protagonist.

Mortal Kombat, of course, has always had a variety of characters.  Many of whom represent (often stereotypically) different genders and cultures.

So, I thought I would write a video essay about the evolution of the women of Mortal Kombat.  From these videos, perhaps we can draw some interesting conclusions about the evolution of the company and of the market as a whole.
